This is exactly what happens from the moment your unit arrives at the shop to the day it ships back, rebuilt and tested.

Teardown and clean
On arrival we fully disassemble the gearbox, sand blast the parts, and thoroughly clean off grease and old oil so every surface can be inspected honestly.

Magnaflux inspection
Gears and shafts are magnafluxed to find cracks and hidden flaws. Bearings are removed from the shafts, and the bearing surfaces are inspected and sized. The inspection is free.

Gears manufactured new
Worn or damaged gears are manufactured new, not patched. We cut them in house, finished to size, so the rebuilt unit runs true.

Journals reground to size
Shaft journals are pre ground, rebuilt, and ground to size, restoring the original fit and tolerance the bearings need to last.

OEM bearings, new seals, recut keyways
Bearings are replaced with OEM. Seals are replaced or remanufactured new. Keyways are recut new so nothing carries old wear into the rebuild.

Test run and up to a 24 month warranty
Every gearbox is test run before it leaves the shop. The completed work carries an up to 24 month warranty against chipping, flaking, peeling, and wear.

Do you refurbish gearboxes or only rebuild them?
We do both, because in our shop refurbishment and rebuilding are two depths of the same process. A refurbishment addresses what the free teardown and magnaflux inspection actually finds: we clean the unit, replace bearings, seals, and gaskets, correct worn journals, and return everything to spec. A full rebuild goes further, with gears manufactured new, shafts reground to size, and keyways recut, so the unit comes back stronger than OEM. You do not have to choose in advance. The inspection is free, so you see the real condition and a clear quote before you commit, and we only recommend the depth of work the unit needs. Either way the gearbox is test run before it ships and carries an up to 24 month workmanship warranty. Yes. A gear reducer, a speed reducer, and a gearbox are the same machine under different names: an enclosed gear drive that changes speed and torque between a motor and the driven equipment. Every step of our gearbox repair process applies to reducers, from the free teardown and magnaflux inspection to new gears, reground journals, OEM bearings, new seals, recut keyways, and a test run before shipping.
