Emergency service
Line down right now? Our crash and emergency gearbox service gets your unit diagnosed and back in production fast.
When a gearbox fails, the line stops and every hour costs money. Solution Gear Co. tears down, inspects, and rebuilds your unit stronger than OEM, all in house in Houston, then test runs it before it ships back to you. Free shipping, free inspection, and an up to 24 month warranty on every job.
We do all the work in house in Houston, from teardown and magnaflux inspection to gear cutting, heat treat, assembly, and a tested rebuild. That means tighter control, faster turnaround, and one warranty you can hold us to.
Line down right now? Our crash and emergency gearbox service gets your unit diagnosed and back in production fast.
Houston plants have trusted us for over two decades across mining, oil and gas, power, paper, and steel.
We handle pickup, crating, and rigging on the big reducers, even units in the thousands of pounds, start to finish.
This is exactly what happens from the moment your unit arrives at the shop to the day it ships back, rebuilt and tested.
On arrival we fully disassemble the gearbox, sand blast the parts, and thoroughly clean off grease and old oil so every surface can be inspected honestly.
Gears and shafts are magnafluxed to find cracks and hidden flaws. Bearings are removed from the shafts, and the bearing surfaces are inspected and sized. The inspection is free.
Worn or damaged gears are manufactured new, not patched. We cut them in house, finished to size, so the rebuilt unit runs true.
Shaft journals are pre ground, rebuilt, and ground to size, restoring the original fit and tolerance the bearings need to last.
Bearings are replaced with OEM. Seals are replaced or remanufactured new. Keyways are recut new so nothing carries old wear into the rebuild.
Every gearbox is test run before it leaves the shop. The completed work carries an up to 24 month warranty against chipping, flaking, peeling, and wear.
A rebuild is only as good as the metal underneath it. We heat treat, carburize, and flame harden gears so the rebuilt unit comes back forged and reinforced to outlast the original.
Controlled heat treat restores and improves the hardness profile of the gear teeth so they carry load without premature wear.
Carburizing builds a hard, wear resistant surface over a tough core, the combination heavy industrial drives demand.
Flame hardening targets the surfaces that take the most punishment, then every dimension is measured before the unit goes back together.
Press play. This is one of our remanufactured gearboxes, filmed on our Houston floor.
This gearbox came from the chemical industry in Pasadena, Texas. Their whole plant was down. We had these gears remanufactured, replaced all bearings, gaskets, and seals, and had the plant back up and running in 48 hours.
Drag the handle. A GE turbine gearbox, before our process and after.
Before
After

Industrial gearboxes torn down, rebuilt stronger than OEM, and staged for final inspection.

New gears, OEM bearings, fresh seals and gaskets, test run and ready to return to service.

Every unit is measured, magnafluxed, and rebuilt to OEM size or better before it leaves the shop.
"Our big Falk gearbox failed and was about to shut down the whole production line. We called at 2am and they actually picked up and started helping right away. They got the parts fast and had the gearbox running. They saved us from a huge shutdown."

No matter the make, if it has gears we can rebuild it. These are the brands we work on most often.
We also rebuild bull, brass, and worm ring gears, pinions, helical, planetary, herringbone and spiral bevel gears, rack and helm gears, dryer gears, and dragline gears for mining, quarries, oil drilling, refineries, power plants, paper mills, steel, and chemical foundries.
There is no need to pay 100 percent of the OEM purchase price. We can save you up to half on a complete overhaul, and no equipment is beyond repair.
Free shipping both ways and a free inspection on every job, plus free pickup, delivery, crating, and rigging. You see the real condition before you commit.
A 24 month workmanship warranty against chipping, flaking, peeling, and wear. Rebuilt to outlast the original unit.
Line down at 2am? We pick up. Rush rebuilds in days, not weeks, when time is the thing that matters most.
We do both, because in our shop refurbishment and rebuilding are two depths of the same process. A refurbishment addresses what the free teardown and magnaflux inspection actually finds: we clean the unit, replace bearings, seals, and gaskets, correct worn journals, and return everything to spec. A full rebuild goes further, with gears manufactured new, shafts reground to size, and keyways recut, so the unit comes back stronger than OEM. You do not have to choose in advance. The inspection is free, so you see the real condition and a clear quote before you commit, and we only recommend the depth of work the unit needs. Either way the gearbox is test run before it ships and carries an up to 24 month workmanship warranty. To compare the economics of each path, read our guide to gearbox refurbishment vs replacement cost.
Yes. A gear reducer, a speed reducer, and a gearbox are the same machine under different names: an enclosed gear drive that changes speed and torque between a motor and the driven equipment. Every step of our gearbox repair process applies to reducers, from the free teardown and magnaflux inspection to new gears, reground journals, OEM bearings, new seals, recut keyways, and a test run before shipping. We repair shaft mounted, foot mounted, helical, worm, and planetary reducers from Falk, Dodge, Browning, SEW Eurodrive, and every other major maker. The gearing standards this industry works to are published by the American Gear Manufacturers Association, which is now part of the Motion + Power Manufacturers Alliance.
We answer 24 hour crash and emergency calls. We have rebuilt failed units and had them back on site in as little as 5 days, and we handle free pickup, crating, and rigging on the heavy ones so your team does not have to move them.
We rebuild each component stronger than OEM, forged and reinforced. Gears are manufactured new, journals are reground to size, bearings are OEM, seals are replaced, and keyways are recut. Every gearbox is test run and carries an up to 24 month workmanship warranty, and you can save up to 50 percent versus OEM purchase price.
Falk, Lufkin, Flender, Dodge, Foote-Jones, Cone Drive, Hansen, Browning, David Brown, SEW Eurodrive, Westinghouse, General Electric, Marley, Horsburgh & Scott, Cleveland, and many more. If it has gears, we can rebuild it.
Yes. Shipping is free both ways and inspection is free on every job. We tear down, clean, and magnaflux your unit, then give you the real condition and a clear quote before you commit to any repair.
A full industrial gearbox repair starts with a free teardown and inspection. We clean and magnaflux the housing and gears, measure every journal and bore, then replace what is worn. Gears are cut new, shafts are reground or built up, bearings and seals are renewed, and keyways are recut. The unit is reassembled to spec, test run under load, and shipped back with up to a 24 month warranty. Doing all of it in house is what keeps an industrial gearbox repair fast and consistent.
We do both. Refurbishment and rebuilding are two depths of the same process in our shop. A refurbishment corrects what the free inspection finds, with new bearings, seals, and gaskets and journals returned to spec. A full rebuild adds new gears, reground shafts, and recut keyways. Either way the unit is test run and carries an up to 24 month workmanship warranty.
Yes. A gear reducer or speed reducer is a gearbox, the same enclosed gear drive under a different name, and our full repair process applies. We rebuild shaft mounted, foot mounted, helical, worm, and planetary reducers from every major maker, with free shipping, a free inspection, and an up to 24 month warranty.
Free shipping, free inspection, and an up to 24 month warranty on every rebuild. Tell us about your unit and we will reply fast, often the same day.
