Anyone can melt metal. A bearing that lasts comes from the machining that follows the pour. We re tin and pour, then bore, scrape, blue, and set clearance in the same shop, so the bearing fits the journal it was built for.

For over two decades Houston plants have trusted us to re babbitt the bearings in turbines, pumps, compressors, and large gearboxes.
We bore and machine to the journal size, then scrape and blue for fit and set the running clearance your equipment calls for.
This is exactly what happens from the moment a worn bearing arrives at the shop to the day it ships back, poured, machined, and fit.
We measure the shell, the bore, and the journal it runs on, and we check the bond surface. The inspection is free and tells you the real condition before any work begins.
The worn, scored, or fatigued babbitt is melted out of the shell so we start from a clean, bare housing.
The bare shell is cleaned and tinned. A proper tin bond is what holds the new babbitt to the steel, so this step decides whether the bearing lasts.
Fresh tin or lead based babbitt is poured into the prepared shell at the right temperature, building a sound, void free lining.
The poured bearing is bored and machined to the exact journal size. We can also line bore the housing so the bearing sits true to the shaft.
The surface is scraped and blued to the journal so the load spreads evenly across the babbitt instead of riding on a high spot.
We set the running clearance your equipment requires for its oil film, speed, and load, not a generic number.
Every dimension is checked one last time before the bearing ships. The completed work carries an up to 24 month workmanship warranty.

A Babbitt bearing is a soft white metal bearing surface, a tin or lead based alloy, poured into a shell or housing. It carries the journal of large rotating equipment such as turbines, pumps, compressors, and gearboxes. The babbitt is sacrificial and wears over time, so when the surface is scored, fatigued, or wiped, we melt out the old babbitt, re tin the shell, and pour fresh babbitt, then machine it back to the exact size.
Yes. After we pour the new babbitt we bore and machine the bearing to the exact journal size, then we scrape and blue it for fit and set the running clearance your equipment calls for. We can also line bore housings so the bearing sits true. Every job carries an up to 24 month workmanship warranty.
