Baytown has been a process town for more than a century. The refinery complex here has operated since 1919, when it began as a Humble Oil site, and today it covers about 3,400 acres along the Houston Ship Channel with the refinery fully integrated with chemical and olefins plants on the same property, per Wikipedia. That refinery can process up to 584,000 barrels of crude oil per day, which makes it one of the largest in the United States, per ExxonMobil.
The petrochemical side of town is just as heavy. The Baytown Olefins Plant is one of the largest ethylene plants in the world and manufactures approximately 10 billion pounds of petrochemical products each year, per ExxonMobil. Along Cedar Bayou, Chevron Phillips Chemical operates its largest United States manufacturing facility, a 2,100 acre plant with approximately 800 employees and 1,200 nested contractors producing ethylene, propylene, NAO, and polyethylene, per the Cedar Bayou Fact Sheet 2025.

Plants that produce polyethylene, as Cedar Bayou does, run extrusion equipment, and the extruder gearbox is one of our core specialties, along with screw and barrel repair for the same lines.
A rebuild here is a full restoration, not a patch. We tear the unit down, clean and magnaflux the housing and gears, and measure every journal and bore. Worn gears are cut new in house, shafts are reground or built up to size, bearings and seals are replaced, keyways are recut, and the assembled unit is test run before it leaves. For the terminals and heavy fabricators along the Ship Channel side of town we also handle crane wheels, babbitt bearings, and hydraulic cylinders, so one truck can carry more than one problem back to the shop.
