- Petrochemical and plastics on Chemical Row. The plants strung along the Sabine and Neches waterway, including the Chevron Phillips polyethylene complex and the legacy DuPont Sabine River Works resins site, run extruder drives, agitator and mixer reducers, pump drives, and cooling tower units. These are the workhorses of HDPE and chemical production.
- Marine and shipbuilding on the river. Orange has built ships since the 1800s, from Levingston offshore rigs to the WWII warship yards. Today the working yards still construct and service tugs, inland push boats, tank barges, deck barges, dredges, and offshore support vessels. All of that depends on marine reduction gears and propulsion drives.
- Paper and forest products. The Sabine region paper and wood industry runs roll drives, press section gearing, and conveyor reducers that take continuous load and never get a real day off.

How these units actually fail
We do not guess at root cause. We tear the unit down, measure everything, and tell you what really went wrong so it does not come back.
On an HDPE single screw extruder, the gearbox is fighting a continuous axial thrust that can run past 500 kilonewtons, day in and day out. That load lands on the thrust bearing, so thrust bearings are the first thing to wear, often with heat that breaks the oil down and then chews the gear teeth. On a marine reduction gear off a tug or push boat, the enemy is salt water and shock load. Water contamination spalls the bearing races, pitch line pitting shows up when the oil viscosity drops or the unit gets overloaded, and the thrust bearing running face and pivot wear from constant ahead and astern duty. We rebuild the housing, requalify the bores, recut the gears when they are pitted past spec, and reset every clearance.
On plant agitators and mixers, the thrust bearing carries the whole vertical load and the process vapors attack the seals and lube. When that thrust bearing collapses, the shaft drops and the gearing follows. We fix the cause, upgrade the bearing arrangement where it makes sense, and seal it back up right.
